Music Monday: Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit

As a singer, songwriter and musician, Jason Isbell’s music on its own is incredible. Isbell live, with his band the 400 Unit, is an experience on a different level.

In a 2016 concert recorded by Boston’s WGBH, Isbell’s musical range and showmanship as a guitarist is on full display in songs like “Palmetto Rose”, a driving version of “Never Gonna Change” and “Cover Me Up,” his ode to wife (and equally impressive bandmate and songwriter), Amanda Shires.

On a side note, the WGBH Music YouTube page has an awesome collection of performances, all beautifully shot with excellent audio. Just one more reason to support public radio.
