Nashville-based Andrew Leahey’s own life sounds like it could be the basis for one of his songs, a novel or even a feature film.
While building a following, the singer/songwriter and music journalist was sidetracked by a brain tumor. After a 12-hour surgery to remove the tumor, he recovered and went on to achieve success with his band The Homestead.
One of Leahey’s latest songs, “New Memories (4202 Franklin),” is a tribute to his mother who is currently battling Alzheimer’s and starts out with the heartbreaking line, “I don’t think I’m ready/To watch you forget me.”
