Music Monday: Kelley Mickwee

TLDR summary: The search for the writer of a song lead me to the great singer/songwriter Kelley Mickwee.

Down the rabbit hole version: When I started listening to New Mexico-based songwriter Max Gomez, one of the songs that really caught my attention was “Joe”, a quiet story about a man lamenting his life choices.  While at the Red River Folk Festival this year, I learned the song was written by Jed Zimmerman (who just released a great new album) and watched him perform an excellent version with Gomez.

While searching for Zimmerman’s version of “Joe”, I found out he originally recorded it as part of the duo Jed and Kelley from their 2007 album, “Songs To Take Home.” The Kelley turned out to be Kelley Mickwee, who (like Zimmerman) has gone on to create excellent music as a solo artist.
